Preservation Month : Preserving History of the Railroad Workers

  • 21 May 2016
  • 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • 8170 Depot Street, Rural Hall

On Saturday May 21, Preservation Planning Partner Forsyth County Historic Resorces Commission and the Rural Hall Historical Society will sponsor an open house and family fun day from 10 am to 5 pm.

Activities will include tours of the historic depot and the Rural Hall Historical Society Building and an exhibit "Preserving History of the Railroad Workers" at the Hobo Family Day event.

The Rural Hall Depot is a historic train station built in 1888 for the Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railway. It was moved in 1980 to save it from demolition. Today, the Rural Hall Depot is one of the oldest railroad stations in western North Carolina.
